Polish 14k Art Deco Compact Hallmark ID

HI all, just came into this gold compact with a satin pouch. Measures 3" x 2.25" x just under .5" . The interior has a mirror inside a bezel and leather strips lining the walls. The only marks are inside on the base of one of the compartments. The marks look like an LK maker's mark an...

Austrian Silver Art Nouveau Tray Date ID

Hi all, I had a devil of a time finding marks on this lovely Art Nouveau tray with cherries and a dragonfly. I'd love some help figuring out the date of the mark, and any thoughts on the maker. (Looks like 800 silver, but the strike was maybe not well done.) Thx! https://i.imgur.com/zD3LMzb.jpeg htt...

Re: ID unmarked silverplate dispenser

Thanks Traintime, it's possible that what I assumes was smoothing of chasing caused by replating might just be polish worn sterling. As it happens, when I test after a good file scratch, I get a pretty stable reaction, see my pic. Certainly no indication of the usual green in typical silver plate. T...

ID unmarked silverplate dispenser

Hi all, this 17" tall Silver Plate dispenser has only the number 515 embossed under its base in addition to some etched numbers. It looks to have been replated. Any thoughts on age and or maker and origin would be appreciated. Thx! https://i.imgur.com/wU1Kyk9.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/aUUNkiD.jp...

Thomas Pitts OR Thomas Powell???

Hi all, I identified the maker of the epergne as Thomas Pitts. But I just found a thirty year old appraisal that identifies him as Thomas Powell. Thoughts?? Thanks! https://i.imgur.com/mwOn0rs.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/PJlFcu3.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/X12axU5.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/DhmEb93.jpeg

Re: Sterling wine taster or salt cellar ???! ID Help!

Sorry...here you are... Hi all I came into six of these small dishes. About 3" in diameter. They're about the size of a salt cellar but they have a little handle with a loop at the end. They are shaped a little like wine tasters. Only Mark is Sterling underneath. Gorgeous work. Thanks for any h...

Re: Gorham Pineapple jar

Never expected to find it at Goodwill. But it is VERY clearly marked, so I don't know how it got through the vetters.

Re: Gorham Pineapple jar

BY the way, I'm inclined to have a new lid made out of, say, rosewood, or something else more available.

Gorham Pineapple jar

Hi all, just came into this Gorham pineapple jar, sans lid, at a local Goodwill. I haven't found any other examples of it. Plenty of glass jars with sterling lids, but no sterling jars. I also don't see a date mark (can I assume that the A is the date mark, putting this at around 1868?) It measures ...

Lion passant date mark and star - ID HELP!

Good morning, having a hard time figuring out these marks. This is an eight inch fork marked STERLING, with a lion passant, a D date mark in a sideways shield cartouche and a five pointed star (like Spanish sterling!). Also, the makers mark is partly worn away and I can't make it out. Looks like THO...

Re: Rooster, 85 Paris mark AND crab??

Fantastic replies! Thanks so much. I will only note that I see only the slightest hint of a bigorne mark in the vicinity of the reverse side of the crab. It is on the edge of the plate in the attached pic. It is close to, but not directly behind the crab mark. Not sure if this matters...? Otherwise,...
