I have two candleholders I found today. I cannot determine this maker. I have searched the links on 925-1000 and searched Google and other sources as well. Hello Everyone, I obtained a nice sterling shell type dish for free, and it has multiple hallmarks on it. The STERLING is self-explanatory, and I am pretty sure the lion means it is English. Okay, after finding a more updated letter date chart, I am now sure the pendant is 1988. This does make more sense to me with the type of backing it has.

Does it say "DOPEL" or "DOPOL" above the evident Sterling mark?

When did it become common place in America to use the Sterling mark?

Okay, I will stay with them being coin then. The have the characteristics of coin.

Short of one of those x-ray guns it would be hard to tell the difference.

BTW, seeing he was a jeweler as well, is it likely these spoons are actually sterling instead of coin?

After what I think may be the find of a lifetime, I have developed an interest in hallmarks and makers marks.
Now, I will have to learn patterns as well.

I think these to be 1800s and know the handles are coin to sterling content. These are two J. Kenney spoons from the same $12 group I have mentioned earlier. Of all the four silversmiths, I cannot seem to find anything on J. Kenney.
