Re: Persian Silver Bowl, please help with marks and ID
I should also note that the quality of the work is further evidence (but not proof) that the piece is reasonably high grade silver. Usually plate and low grade silver is poorer quality, (but not always). On balance i think your bowl is likely to be silver, but I can't promise.

Re: Persian Silver Bowl, please help with marks and ID
Eastern people like their silver black! I don't have an answer about the makers mark, but one is 84, denoting the purity of the silver. Beware though, this is NOT a guarantee mark as it is in Europe- plenty of plate and low grade silver is deceptively marked 84 in Iran. Your bowl looks like silver, ...

Don't know! Is it arabic script under the OHH?
If not I see no reason to believe this is Middle Eastern. Could be Italian maybe.

Re: Swedish Silver Decanter from 1770 ?
Exactly. This appears to be a pewter like alloy that in Britain is called "Britannia Metal", and was used extensively in Germany and Austria (most famously by WMF).

Re: Two British silver shells of unknown origin
All I can say for certain is that these are not of British manufacture. I can see why the seller thought this- the left hand mark looks like a British Duty Mark (the monarch's head). They do look like they have some age though.
Sorry I can't be of more help!

Apologies for the disappearing images- my website has gone through some changes, including the re-naming of all posted images, so these have fallen by the wayside. I will repost below for reference. Thanks Oel for your opinion. I have been unable to confirm your (our) suspicion that it is China Trad...

I believe John King was known for making two handled (loving) cups. I've seen many with this mark attributed to him.

Re: Small porringer from London?
Apologies, total fail on my part- I have no idea. However, it is very likely British and early 18th century. It could well be Provincial, hence the difficulty in locating the makers mark. The lack of other marks also support this, but to be honest it's quite common to find small pieces like this mak...

Re: Caddy Spoon with no Maker or Assay Office mark
Yes, you're right- London 1798. Quite common for the town mark to be omitted from smallware. It's a nice honest little piece, but I think it's pretty much impossible to perform a maker attribution for such a generic design. Many makers made this exact caddy spoon. It's probably the most common desig...

On a less scholarly note, I feel it worth pointing out that the foliate piercing on this mote spoon is really quite lovely, and quite unusual. A really nice example.

Re: Trying to identify the maker of Georgian caster.
According to the literature this is correct, but there is a growing line of thought that this is in fact Jabez Daniels. I forget the reasons why, but a customer of mine is quite an expert on the subject. Delmester stops, and then starts again with this unregistered mark 10 years or so later. Daniels...

Re: Need a little Help with 4 Candlesticks Marks.
Hello!
Yes ,this is james Gould's earlier punch, registered in 1722. He was a specialist candlestick maker and many candlesticks of this period came from his workshop.
I'd advise you to take them to a local auction house for a valuation for insurance purposes.

Mysterious Colonial mug
http://www.jamesbaldwinantiques.com/gallery/p_245/DSC_0505.JPG I've ruled out everywhere that I can search for- Not Cape or Canadian, which were my first suspicions. I wonder if it is either one of the West Indies or an unknown Chinese Export maker. http://www.jamesbaldwinantiques.com/gallery/p_245...

Ahh, I understand. Interesting stuff nonetheless. I wondered if perhaps there was some tradition in the family who owns them that they related to the silver family.
Interesting to watch this space.

Very interesting.
What is the reason for thinking this may be Wm Bateman in the first place? Other than an auctioneers optimistic sales pitch that is!!

Re: Small porringer from London?
The mark rings a bell- I'm sure I've seen it before. Nice little thing- yes, a toy porringer, early 18th century, and I would think it to be British, possibly provincial.
I'll take a more thorough look later and see if I can find it if nobody beats me to it.
