Re: Pin Tray - Help with Maker pleae.
Peter, Thanks for this. I have to say it's the first time I've come across dutch pseudo marks. Quickly scrolling through I found an identical set of marks to mine attributed to Herbert Hooijkaas. Fa.(Firm) H. Hooijkaas 1874-2008; Zilverfabriek Schoonhoven. So that's my query answered. Once again man...

Pin Tray - Help with Maker pleae.
Hello Forum, I picked this pin tray or bonbon dish up yesterday. The dealer suggested it might be Hanau as he assumed the marks on the back were Hanau pseudo marks. However as you can see there is a Dutch export mark on the front so presumably it is Dutch made. The London import marks are for Louis ...

Re: Please identify the silver (?) marks on this Pepperette
Phil,
I'm blown away, thank you.
I have to say I hadn't realised it could be that old so didn't research further back the 19th century.
Thank you again for your help.

Please identify the silver (?) marks on this Pepperette
Hello forum, I picked this little item up yesterday in an antiques shop and believe it to be silver. I can't identify any of the marks though. It's around 8.5 cm from the base to the tip of the finial. The clearest mark is what looks like a Griffin's head. There's also a female figure I think. The o...

Re: Hopeful search for a maker ID
Thank you AG. I have been over that thing with a fine tooth comb metaphorically speaking. Unless there's something I am missing completely then there's definitely no other marks on it. However your suggestion looks very promising and gives me another avenue of research to follow. Thank you and thank...

Re: Hopeful search for a maker ID
Peter, Thank you for this. I have been over the thing several times and can find nothing. However I am satisfied it is silver. The Dutch attribution was by the auction house. That's all I have I'm afraid. I was hoping if anyone could identify the mark I posted it might help with my research. Best Re...

Hopeful search for a maker ID
Hello forum, I recently purchased this item at an online auction. It was listed as a Dutch silver snuff box and is approximately 8cm wide. Despite these two images showing a gold tint, it is silver in colour. That's just the artificial light effect. Top: https://i.ibb.co/BsDbfpw/Img-0883.jpg and Und...

Re: Can you Identify the Maker FB Please?
Thank you Trev. Of course the date letter is a 'u' not an 'n'. That makes sense.
I had seen the Francis Butt mark before though not in that form.
Thank you again for your help.

Can you Identify the Maker FB Please?
Hello Forum. I bought this pepperette yesterday which has Chester Marks for I believe 1876. The maker's mark FB is clear and set inside what seems to be a quatrefoil shape. I can't seem to find who that might be though. Any ideas? The grid on the main picture is cm's by the way so you can gauge the ...

Are these German/Hanau Marks?
Hello again forum. I recently bought a little pin dish with three marks running down the centre. https://i.ibb.co/2WG1gvd/Img-0773.jpg https://i.ibb.co/hKfXcYg/Img-0776.jpg The 800 quality mark in the centre is slightly easier to distinguish under a lens. It's the marks either side I am having troub...

Re: Maker on a small snuff box please and Swedish marks explained
Thank you again Peter. I don't think the mark contains H H. The first letter has a sloped cross bar which is why I thought it could be either a stylised N or even a stylised H. The two verticals on the letter next to it are closer together which suggests a different letter or pair of letters next to...

Re: Maker on a small snuff box please and Swedish marks explained
Thank you Peter. It's hard to work out if the N in the maker's mark is central or left of centre. If the latter then it could well be N K Kok. The overall width of the surrounding hexagon frame is quite wide for just two letters though the right hand end is obscured probably due to it being struck o...

Maker on a small snuff box please and Swedish marks explained
Hello again forum. I recently purchased a small snuff box which I believe is Dutch. In the bottom of the box is a sword mark with a duty restitution mark stamped into it. On the lid near the top is another sword mark. The grid behind the pictures is in centimetres by the way. I have also found what ...

Re: A Small Dutch Snuff Box - Identify Mark if Possible Please
OK, my bad.
I've literally just opened the article "Dutch silver original maker's mark project" and my mark is the first in the article.
So my apologies to all of you already typing a reply.
Best Regards,
Ian T

A Small Dutch Snuff Box - Identify Mark if Possible Please
Hello forum. I recently bought this little Dutch snuff box and wondered if the mark I found is a City or Maker mark. Can anyone identify it for me please? The box is just over 5 cm across and has the Dutch sword impressed on the tongue of the lid and on the base which is otherwise plain. These are t...

Re: Table Snuff Box - Marks seem to be German, maker?
Hello all and thank you for your comments. With regards the import marks, I appreciate the comments suggesting a later date of manufacture. The reason I think it's early is because it's made in relatively thick gauge silver and I've found with more modern pieces and manufacturing techniques that fin...

Table Snuff Box - Marks seem to be German, maker?
Hello again forum. I have a silver table snuff box with London import marks and what I assume are German marks on the base. Can you help me please? https://i.ibb.co/72p45Z6/Img-0682.jpg The Import Marks on the inner rim show 800 grade, the Leopards head for London and the importer which seems to be ...

Thank you AG.
I did find an image of the Unicorn mark and thought maybe the C Delta R was more specific. Hadn't considered a retailer.
Thanks again.

Tobacco/Snuff Box Maker and Approximate Date Please
Hello forum. I would appreciate if anyone could identify a maker if possible and maybe city and/or a date range when this was made. The box is around 8.5 cm wide .
