Many thanks on the information, I have hunted high and low and not heard any mention of E&W. So I was correct in the assumption of 1920 and not 1745.

I have a gold ring with a makers make of E&W with a date letter of scripted u, e.g. 1745 or 1920. Any ideas on the maker please?
