Re: Another 1700s unknown London maker?

Amazing... I bought this item on a Swedish auction just a couple of weeks ago, and I had the same problem dechifering the maker's mark so I intended to post some pictures in the forum, but as I scanned the recent posts I found this. This forum is fantastic!

Great!

Creamer with spurious marks

Hi! I bought this little creamer some time ago, and I have tried hard to find out about the marks. There is the Swedish "cat foot" , but the other marks look rather funny. Fantasy marks? Hanau? The piece looks old, it is rather heavy. On a Swedish forum like this, it was suggested that the...

Re: Sampson & Mordan??

Hello Trev, and thank you for this enlightning answer! To me it sounds very plausible. I will have to live without knowing who made the piece.

Thanks again /bjojo48

Sampson & Mordan??

I have this creamer with hallmarks saying 1806 and George III. I suppose it is manufactured in London although the leopard has been almost entirely rubbed away. But, then the maker's mark, SM (double struck) should in my view correspond to Sampson & Mordan, that started their bussines decades la...
