Sterling Silver Horn mark or Candy Bowl
Hi. This one has me stumped and research has led me nowhere. As you can see the mark, is some sort of horn (gun horn) or possibly a bugle. The piece is a small bowl or candy dish. I have seen a few images of this mark on silverplate marked items but have not seen a maker tied to it and this is the f...

Re: Silver Plate Made In England Mystrey Hallmarks- Exprt?
Thank you very much for your response. I took a look at some images of gothic script and your conclusion makes sense. I guess we can toss this into the unidentified makers marks. I do feel rather embarassed by my turning it sideways and seeing a kangaroo and a boar, but I am certain I am not the fir...

Re: Silver Plate Made In England Mystrey Hallmarks- Exprt?
As I am now obsessed with this I have kept researching this. Something caught my I so I turned the picture sideways. Well the first hallmark sure looks like a Kangaroo and the last hallmark a boar or a pig. So I am now under the assumption that it is AUSTRALIAN silver plate. Don't think I will find ...

Re: Sterling Silver Walking Stick
Hi Trev, Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Your eyes must be much better than mine, but I think as you mention, issue may be the double struck hallmark that makes it hard to identify. If I may ask one question, would you think that the item was represented accurately to me as Sterlin...

Re: Sterling Silver Walking Stick
Hi Oel, Thanks for the response. I have taken so many photos to try and get it as clear as possible. I took this one below with the loupe added to my lense and the macro on. Does this helps. It does appear to be a face in the shield. The "50" "A" is what is really confusing me. I...

Silver Plate Made In England Mystrey Hallmarks- Exprt?
Silverplate Hallmarks can be very frustrating. These hallmarks don't seem to follow the more common British plate marks as I don't see any recongnizable mark. There is also a mark fo a unicorn (also pictured) The item is a shell serving dish with dolphin feet (I have seen variations of this item but...

Sterling Silver Walking Stick
Have spent hours and hours online trying to find the maker of this sterling silver top walking stick. It is mongoramed with a date of 1886 so I know it is 19th century. I cannot make out the maker's mark which may be an animal. It is also marked "50" and "A" and I just can't find...
