Re: Old Sheffield Tray? Possible new Mappin mark?
If anyone can even help confirm if it would be considered Old Sheffield plated or if it is electro-plated it would be of some help. I really have no experience in silver plated items.

Old Sheffield Tray? Possible new Mappin mark?
I picked up this nice tray today and ran into a dead end while doing some research. I first assumed it was solid silver after a delicate acid test showed positive. However, after trying to identify the hallmarks I found myself learning about the "Old Sheffield" style of platting which is w...

Re: Moscow Antique Cigarette Case. Unknown maker
Thank you all for the information and Zolotnik that is a very impressive case you have!
Does anyone recognize the picture on the front of the case of the lady being grabbed by the man/soldier? I imagine it is not an original artwork but perhaps a copy of a famous painting? Only a guess though.

Moscow Antique Cigarette Case. Unknown maker
Recently acquired this heavy and ornate cigarette case with Russian marks. Using the database on this site I learned the triangle to the left of the face on the Kokoshnik mark means it is probably from Moscow ranging from 1908-1926. I could not however find a match to the makers mark. I checked both...

Re: Set of 10-15 spoons
10-15 is a quality mark usually associated with Baltimore. The other marks are pseudo marks, which are hard to attribute to a particular maker as the letters don't generally refer to the maker. I checked with a friend who has a book I never bought. He says: McGrew has that one as unidentified - mid...

Antique (Persian?) Filigree Bracelet
Recently acquired this bracelet at an estate sale. It has no makers marks or any hall marks of any kind. It also has an unusual screw type clasp and 8 mother of pearl hand painted pieces. I found a similar bracelet on eBay that said it was Persian from the 1800's. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in ...

Set of 10-15 spoons
Recently acquired these spoons and was unable to find any similar makers marks. Each spoon weighs about 24 grams. The only thing I managed to find was that 10-15 means 10 troy ounces silver per 15 troy ounces a.k.a coin silver. Any help figuring our who made these and when would be very much appreci...

Hi welcome to the forum, yes, top image; Danish Assay Office Mark or control mark the triple tower castle above waterlines in an oval frame-shape, the two digit number appearing in the wavy water lines below the three towers is an indication of the year of assay. 1892? Danish Spoon
I recently acquired a wonderful and very old spoon which I believe to be Danish though I am not 100% sure as I have never seen one like it before. It looks like it might be from 1892 based on the hallmark but again, not sure. My main question is what does the (R) and (S) marks stand for? Are they in...

Old Hand Mirror and Brush

I use this site for all the stuff I find silver hunting and have always figured out where its from ect. However I am stumped on this set. I can't seem to find anything about them and any help would...
