My question is if it is possible to date it, 18th or 19th century, by the manufacturing caracteristics? Best regards, Marcondes https:...

Godet´s candlestick
Hi, I have a candlestick that seems to be made by Jean Godet. The problem is that Jean Godet died in 1796 and the Berlin hallmark, "H", is that used from 1803 to 1817. Which one is stamped first: the hallmark or the maker mark? Could be the candlestick be made by Jean Godet and the hallmar...

Re: Help with Identification
Hi Trev., From right to left we have the "AP" mark, a mark with fleur de lis or something similar like the badge of the Prince of Wales, a simbol that I already saw somewhere, a St. Julian´s cross that was used by Ellerby in Old Sheffield and last a simbol that could be two "AA"...

Thanks, Maurice!
In fact I think Bennassi was the spelling of XIX century! In this book, "O ofÃcio da prata no Brasil - Rio de Janeiro", all the names have the older spelling! ;-)

Re: Coat of Arms: Imperial Brasilian connection?
Hi,
This coat of arms is a portuguese one. In fact it is of Chermont, a french family who went to Portugal in 1775 and was granted arms (the french ones) in 1780 by the King of Portugal.
Best Regards,
Marcondes

Re: Rio de Janeiro mark? FVB
Hi Maurice,
Yess, it is a mark of Rio de Janeiro. The maker could be either Francisco Victor Bennassi ca. 1836 or Francisco Victor Bernard 1817-1826.

Marcondes
