Thank you so much! Once I got the "T" in my head, I couldn't imagine it would be any other letter. Duh. Happy Holidays - MG

Help with Maker's Mark

Hi - Can't find info on this one. Is it a "T" or "J"? This is a small dresser jar a bit bigger than 1x1 inch or about 3x3 cm. Thanks! MG

Were brushes like this used for clothing or hair?

Made by Saart Brothers and marked sterling. They are so small and the bristles so fine that I can't imagine they would be used for hair. They don't do anything to mine and it is baby fine. Thoughts? Thanks!

Reading List?

Hi - I have a massive collection of vanity jars with sterling silver lids. I am cataloging them and I realized that I don't know much about the history of these items. Can anyone recommend a good book on such collectibles? If there is no book, where is the best place to learn about them? Here? Where...

Re: Help with Identification Please

I agree. I just got a 20x jewelers loupe and finally could see the crescent and crown. (The crown looks like a pumpkin! I have pie on my mind). But the 950 is the oddity. and the maker is a mystery.

Thanks for your help! MG

Re: Maker's Mark or Martian?

I think you are correct.

I was thinking it could also be for a delicacy or side dish that would be tainted if mixed with another food. Escargot or something. Who knows. I am going to go with butter. My stomach runs away from me often times! Thanks for your input. MG

Re: Maker's Mark or Martian?

Thank you! No wonder I couldn't find it. It was part of a larger mark. So it's upside down...what is it??? The look like mini-vegetable servers. Perhaps they were for food that was served in small quantities bc of cost or weirdness or fear of it contaminating other foods. On a popular auction websit...

Maker's Mark or Martian?

Hi - I am new here and I hope that I am following the rules properly. I have looked at every maker's mark on this site with no success... I have two of these small covered dishes. They look like covered casseroles, but they are only 4 inches x 2.5 inches (10 cm x 6.5 cm) like a ramekin with a cover....
