Hello everyone!
I thought I would post an update - I contacted The.Library@thegoldsmiths.co.uk recently and was advised that the PL in heart shaped cartouche (with no dot in between) belongs to Precious Love Ltd.
Mystery solved! :)
Kind regards,
Adam

Forgot to add: the stupa is 320 grams and around 23 cm tall.

Early Chinese Pure Silver Buddhist Stupa mark identification
Hi everyone! I have a silver early Chinese Buddhist stupa with some interesting marks. Could someone please tell me a little bit more about this item (for example, age)? I was told that it is quite valuable (it has been passed down in the family). I can read Chinese characters, but that did not help...

Large George III spoon, pre-1805?
Hello all! Sorry for the two items in one post, post earlier. The larger spoon (20 cm - what kind of spoon would this be?), I think, is older (judging from the design). The marks, unfortunately, have been almost lost (I can only clearly make out the Lion passant and Geroge III tax marks). You can st...

Thank you! :)
And I apologise for posting two items in one post...I shall create a new post for the other spoon, which, judging from what you said, would be pre 1805? (marks are horizontal).
Kind regards,
Adam

Re: Two George III spoons, 1786-1821, London?
Oops, have just realised that this particular George tax mark was used only after 1786 which rules out the 1756-1775 date marks! My bad.

Two George III spoons, 1786-1821, London?
Hello everyone! I have come into possession of three silver spoons (different sizes), one of which (the smallest, a dessert spoon) I have been able to identify as Birmingham, 1850. These two however, I have had less luck with. The medium sized spoon (first photos - 17 cm), has clear marks, but I am ...

Re: Help Identifying 24K GOLD ring with ASIAN FLAG LIKE HALL
The mark looks to me like the Chinese character 佳 , meaning beautiful, but also carrying the phonetic reading of "ka" in Japanese. Don't know if this perhaps has something to do with "karats"... The other character that this could be is 隹 , although unlikely... Hope that this hel...

Re: Porto Portugal Silver Toothpick Holder
Hi there! Quite a lot of the engraving (and claw feet) resembles that of an item I asked about here a few weeks ago (candlesticks from Brazil - I thought they were 'Sabbath candlesticks', they are in this forum). I believe that the maker may be the same (Jose Ferreira Guimaraes), who seems to have o...

Maker of 100g London multi-ball bracelet
Hi all! I have a t-bar, multi-ball bracelet with a 925 purity mark, assay marks for London, a 'g' date letter (1962 or 2006?), and what would appear to be a 'PL' in a heart shaped box. I have looked under London makers, but could not find any modern jewellers who use 'PL'. The bracelet is very sturd...

Oops, sorry Admin! I posted the link as it contains a clear image of marks (on a very similar item) and I thought it would be good to compare. But I realise that we are not supposed to post links to commercial websites - my apologies. May a post the photo containing marks from the link? (I'm not sur...

Maybe they are by a different maker? I see similar items by different makers (e.g., Luis Antonio Rodrigues).

Here are some other very similar pairs of candlesticks:

(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )
By the way, mine weigh more for some reason (around 480g each).

Re: Marks on silver Sabbath candlesticks
Hi Marcondes! Here are some pics of the candlesticks, all polished up! I saw the marks for Jose Ferreira on a very similar item, but it differed somewhat. Why do you think this might be the case? Is this from a different period perhaps? (I heard he operated for quite some years). Thank you for your ...

Re: Help with Chinese item? What is it?
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents - there is a myth about Asian dragons and the number of claws they show. In Asia, dragons are believed to have originated from China (5 claws) and lost a claw as they moved away from the mainland as punishment. Thus, Korean dragons more often than not, show 4 claws, w...

Another old silver item with mysterious marks
Hello all! I have one more silver item with mysterious marks. The item/marks show a lot of wear and so it is somewhat hard to tell what is a mark and what is not. I am including photos of everything that may be relevant. The last photo looks like a left-facing profile of a woman (?). Any help would ...

Re: Interesting marks on very old silver tureen (?)
Thank you silverfan! Yes, I found a website with Polish/German heraldry and the 9 pointed crown stands for (as you said) "hrabia" - count. I found a similar monogram with W.M. (but not M.W.): http://www.konskie.org.pl/2012/05/modlitwy-hrabiego-gustawa.html I will probably have to contact a...
