Need help identifying these hallmarks
hi, I recently bought this solid silver candlestick. I am posting this topic in this thread as I think I managed to find one of the crests engraved on it: Duke of Hamilton, Hamiltons clan of Scotland. Maybe the making of this candlestick is from somewhere else but I failed o find anything similar in...

Re: Hallmarks on Spoon
Thanks a bunch Jay, will try to post more pictures over the week end. The maker's initials are JC I think. What puzzles me is the crowned B of maison commune as you say which is not in my books... And the charge Mark is not 100% matching the 80-89 mark of Bordeaux (maybe because it is erased). But a...

Wax case
Hello,
I am unable to find the country/dating of this seal wax case in solid silver... there is no seal engraved. It is heavy (60 grs) and quite tall ( 10 cms).
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Re: Nice but weird markings on XVIII Ragout spoon
You answered to my question very precisely. Dole it is, Opinel it is, and mid to end 18th century it is ;-) I would prefer the 1758 mark but having not seen them I will rely on your conclusion. Thanks a lot! PS: if you look very carefully you will see differences in the crown above the addorsed C ha...

Re: Nice but weird markings on XVIII Ragout spoon
Thanks for this comprehensive answer, I appreciate it. There is inconsistency in the dating mainly due to a lack of precise documents. My Tardy is not very clear for once. What bothers me is the Crown on the X (or double C) which is in 2 parts for sure and not in one part as it should for mid to end...

Nice but weird markings on XVIII Ragout spoon
Hi, I don' seem to be able to find consistent information on the hallmarks of this spoon. The Tardy is not precise enough... My findings: City :Dole Silversmith: Joseph Opinel (started business in 1749 apparently) Date: ??? Tardy says 1674-1689 on the Cross with crown and the R with crown is not equ...

Re: Silver Wine taster, german?
well, I am up to my max picture resolution... It represents a Cross, an anchor with a dot on top and a Lion or a bear with a crown...
I'll try to send other pictures with higher res.
There is also a minerva french mark (probably added later).

Silver Wine taster, german?
Hi,
I put it in this section because the hallmarks seem german to me but I was not able to find any corresponding city (Dusseldorf? Berlin?...)
Many thanks in advance.
