Kintarō Hattori Teapot & Sugar Bowl
I recently purchased a teapot and sugar bowl that have a swallow bird mark on the bottom that I believe relates to Kintarō Hattori. I was hoping to get some help in deciphering the Japanese characters. Also, is there any chance that the teapot is actually the creamer? It seems small for a teapot but...

Re: Requesting help deciphering markings. Arabic?
Thank you so much, Peter. I believe you are correct. I never would have guessed the “brc” letters order in “abrcation” - I think my mind was trying to place a vowel in place of the missing “r” on the bottom of the dish, which naturally resulted in zero results. Again, thank you for taking the time t...

Thanks again for your contributions. Unfortunately, those photographs are about the extent of my old school three megapixel cameras abilities.

Re: Please Help I.D. Maker and Pattern of Antique Sugar Tongs
Cheryl, Wow! I am impressed. I pride myself on being pretty savvy on the Internet when it comes to research, but I can say with confidence that I never would have deciphered that mark as the mark for Alvin silver manufacturing. I am in awe of the skill of the contributors to this site, and I greatly...

Please Help I.D. Maker and Pattern of Antique Sugar Tongs
Hello all. I am stumped as to the maker of these lovely sugar tongs. I have included one photo of the tongs, and two of the maker's mark. The tongs are also stamped 'Sterling' and 'Patent'. Thank you in advance!

Re: Russian Silverplate Flatware Mark #1
I can see now that the Russian that I pasted into the above post did not show up properly. In summary, the abbreivation on the knife blades is Russian for stainless steel. The PM mark appears on the handles of all pieces, with the exception of the knives, where it appears on blades. At any rate, can...

Re: Russian Silverplate Flatware Mark #1
Update - the blades of the knives are marked with the same 'PM' logo, as well as НЕ Ж" (short for нержавеющая сталь - Stainless Steel). The language is Russian.

Russian Silverplate Flatware Mark #1
Hello everyone. I have a small grouping of silverplate flatware that I believe is of Russian origin. The only marking is what appears to be a stylized 'PM' within a circle. Here are pics for reference. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Thank you in advance.

Prill Silver Company Desk Set - Plated or Not?
Hello all, I picked up this desk set today at a yard sale. It has a fluted pen holder and two square inkwell holders. The bottom is marked with a shield cartouche with a lion, crossed keys, and a 'P', which I was able to decipher as the mark of the Prill Silver Company of New York City. I am curious...

Re: Help with spoon markings
Edit - I think it is a spoon by William Eley & William Fearn. There is just the slightest impression of second letters beside the 'W's. Any idea on the date?

Help with spoon markings
Hello all. I have a small spoon (3 7/8") that is marked with the lion passant hallmark, and what I believe is the date letter for 1896 and a duty mark, although I have read that the use of a duty mark was abolished in 1890, so I could very well be off about the date letter. It looks to be marke...
