I need help identifying the stone.

Thank you for your response. This piece is 8" in diameter and in the center is 1 1/2" deep.
I was thinking maybe for the base of a lamp, but not sure.

It's very pretty, but I have no idea what it is. It's just been sitting around waiting for someone to tell me...hasn't happened yet, and it's been over 10 years. :) Please help if you know. Thank you!
