Re: A silver cross with a silversmith mark unknown to me
Goodmorning,
thank you for your message. Yes, there is no assay mark on the neck of Mercury. Unfortunately it's difficult to understand the two letters, they are unreadable for me... I've tried to enlarge the picture I made (that are the ones I've posted here).
Regards,
Julio

Thank you so much for your messages, very interesting! I've tried to find references of Greek silver marks, but It's quite difficult... In the Tardy book there aren't and in the web there are some marks but quite modern!

Re: Cute but mysterious Censer
It's a reproduction of the Botafumeiro, you can find in the web many pictures of it. From Wikipedia: "it is a famous thurible used at the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, in Spain. Its name comes from the Galician language, where botar means to eject, to throw away, to expel, and the Latin fum...

Thank you so much for the information! Good evening, I've this russian tray with, under it, a double interlaced P and, in a corner above, I think an M and W. I suppose it was made in Moscow in 1795. The assayer is Andrei Titov (AT) but i can't identify the other marks. Can anybody help me? Thank you! Best regards, Julio https://i.ibb.co/...

Re: A few information on some Italian pseudo-marks
Hi The differences you see in the marks are easily explainable The largest, which I have spoken about at length, is the one for medium-sized objects, and is the most commonly used. The smaller one which has the rounded shield at the top is the one for small objects. https://i.postimg.cc/fy1bZ9tF/ro...

Good afternoon, after having read this interesting post about the Papal State, I've seen, in my opinion, some different marks of the Vatican State in this inkwell. Is it an impression of mine? Another question: is the inkwell a french imported one in Rome? And the GSI mark is of a french silversmith...
