Re: Old Gorham Silver Piece 11oz "1 77"
Thank you both for your replies. I looked up silver soldered and can definitely see why you say that. My piece has definitely taken a good beating. I've looked up on eBay some silver soldered pieces and they can range from looking slightly as beat up as mine to looking exactly like silver plate. I m...

Re: Suit of Armor Arm holding dagger
Thank you for your response. There are no other marks besides the crest on the front and this bird looking hallmark on the back, which I'm now thinking could be a peacock or some other bird. Thanks again

Re: Suit of Armor Arm holding dagger
I just wanted to mention that the hallmark looks like a rooster looking to the right with a feather on its head blowing to the left.

Re: Suit of Armor Arm holding dagger
I am unable to find this mark on the website so I am hoping someone maybe able to assist me on my quest. The crest is etched on the front of the plate and the hallmark is on the back. I was thinking it could possibly be Portuguese or UK based off of the crest. If anyone has any advice or knowledge o...

Re: Suit of Armor Arm holding dagger
Thank you, Trev. That is really cool. I will try to learn about the hallmark located on the back of the plate by searching 925-1000.com, but if I post it here maybe you would know it. Thank you for helping.

Suit of Armor Arm holding dagger
I came across this interesting mark on the front of a plate. There is also a small hall mark of a bird on a branch. If anyone has any knowledge of this marking your help would be awesome. Thanks

Re: PRETTY SURE THIS IS SILVERPLATE BUT AGE AND COUNTRY ??
Now that I think about it squirrel marks might be more common than I realize since the hair of squirrels in pretty much silverish. I am totally new to this field but hope I can help.

Re: PRETTY SURE THIS IS SILVERPLATE BUT AGE AND COUNTRY ??
I thought the mark on the left looked like a squirrel so I googled "squirrel silver mark" and clicked a link for an inquiry from this forum itself. Someone suggested the squirrel mark on that specific piece(images wouldn't load so I wasn't able to compare it with yours) maybe "S.J. Le...

I believe the 00997 could mean the silver quality but still not 100% sure. Any information on this 1847 Roger Bros. pair is greatly appreciated.

1847 Roger Bros. Sterling Creamer and Sugar - 00997?
Hello, I've been trying for awhile now to figure out what the story is with these two pieces. I cannot find any information on the 00997 number which I believe is the serial number for the set. If anyone has any advice on where to look such as a book or can help identify them I would greatly appreci...
