Hi
I have a fairly small (15cm diam) handled dish with this mark. I can't find anything on this database, can anyone help?
It appears to be a 4 leaf clover with letters SFMO clockwise from top.
Many thanks for any clues

Re: No hallmark - a kite mark?
Ah, thank you very much! Now not so mysterious - I didn't know they were aka registration numbers. Nothing to do with the gold then as such, more of a design patent. You're right it is fairly damaged, but I cannot find a hallmark anywhere. And the tests were pretty conclusive, done on a clear flat p...

No hallmark - a kite mark?
I have a pair of earrings that seem to show what looks like a kite mark, or rather 'diamond mark', along with presumably a makers mark of TC9. If the diamond mark is decoded it seems to spell out '25th June 1875'. The metal tests at 14 carat. But I've never seen this kind of marking on gold before -...

A little update on this if anyone is interested!
It turns out to be Elkington & Co 1844, or so I am advised, so very much an English item after all.

Re: Very worn out / faint marks on sugar bowl holder
Thanks Silverfan for your reply. I've checked out Wilhelm Muller but still can't seem to get a match, due to like you say their illegibility. A slightly broader question for anyone (I'm not that knowledgeable in this subject), but is it usual for hallmarks to become so faded? That to me seems to sug...

Very worn out / faint marks on sugar bowl holder
Hello folks First post here - so I hope this is the right place to post. I'm struggling to identify the marks on the under side of a sugar bowl holder. The only thing seemingly clear is a '4' at the bottom right. I would be most grateful for any pointers on this - even if someone points out that it'...
