I can't identify this mark
This "-W-" mark is on the bottom of a pair of glass lined salt dips. Above the letter, the piece is stamped sterling. I looked in the Dorothy Rainwater book, which I have always found to be a good resource, but nothing has matched the mark. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you https:...

I can't identify this mark
I am having a bit of trouble finding any reference to this mark. I have tested these pieces and they are silver, I believe .800. Besides the letter marks, there is also what I believe is the silversmith's mark. They differ from the tablespoon to the teaspoon to the dinner fork. If anyone can give so...

Re: Can't Identify The Maker's Mark
Thank you so much for your input concerning this serving spoon. I looked up Robert Wilson. He was a silversmith in New York from 1803 until 1810 and then moved to Philidelphia and was active until 1825. When you look at the timeline you have to stop and wonder since his early life was taking place r...

Missing Date Mark
The question that I have concerns a serving spoon. It was made in New Castle by John Langlands and John Robertson who were registered in business from 1778 until 1795. My problem is that there is no date mark. I have never seen a piece of English sterling without a date mark. Is there a reasonable e...

London Silversmith's Mark
I can't find any reference to the silversmith whose mark is on a fork. The fork is in the "King" pattern and is dinner size.It was made in London in 1896. The mark begins with a "J" and ends with "C". What I'm confused by is that in-between the two initials is a smaller...

Sheffield Maker's Mark
Greetings, I have a question concerning a Sheffield silversmith's mark. I've had no luck with my research and I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me. The piece itself is a "Queen" pattern butter spreader and the mark is "TB" above"JH" set in a shield outline. Th...

Re: French Tea Caddy
Hi Steve, I want to thank you for the help that you have given me. The name Paul Sormoni did come up in my research but there was no way to verify the name with the mark. This is the first item that I have posted a request on this site and it has been a most satisfying experience. Once again, thank ...
