Re: 1801 London, twin dishes with spoon holes, exceptionally well made. What are they??
Hi again, Sorry for the delay in responding...I have two year old twins and just things get hectic around here, haha I agree fully with your assessment of John Robins, especially after googling his work. I found a couple of things that were VERY similar to these in form, and even one pair with the s...

Re: 1801 London, twin dishes with spoon holes, exceptionally well made. What are they??
Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. They are only about 6" x 4" x 3", with the 3" being from the bottom of the feet to the lip of the actual vessel (so not including the lid). The spoon slot is REALLY tiny, about a half a cm across. Most of the soup tureens I have seen are gigantic,...

1801 London, twin dishes with spoon holes, exceptionally well made. What are they??
Hi all, Just picked up these two...I am reasonably certain that they are from London, 1801, the maker I think is John Reily but if you have a differing opinion please let me know! These dishes are nuts. Well, literally in one sense. The top part (handle? Finial?) of either kid is held on by a wingnu...

Awesome thank you Cheryl! Such good info, I had no idea about Towle's origins like that. I will add that to my "database" haha. I have a bunch of these teaspoons and I love that they are called Verona - like romeo and juliet! hehe. :)
Thanks again!!

Help with Makers Mark on Teaspoon
Hi again, I cannot find this maker for the life of me. I really like the pattern too and I would like to know when it is from! It looks really old, it's pretty thin too. Marked with a Jeweler's stamp as well - MW Shaw who I thinkwas out of Galveston TX. Thanks so much! http://www.imgur.com/HLrZM2s.j...

Help With Makers mark/ID on Coin Spoon
Howdy again, This is a coin spoon that was in a box of rando flatware from a thrift store (again) I didn't even notice the "J.F. Butler" until I was taking pictures just now, but I am thinking maybe that is similar to like your Shreve & Co. s where there is a jeweler stamped and also a...

Help with Makers Mark on Teapot
Howdy, Long, long time lurker, first time poster. This site has been a big part of my erm, extensive silver collecting habit (thanks a lot. haha) :) I picked this up at a thrift store, of all places, and I cannot find the mark for the life of me. I have looked on the symbols pages of this site and o...
