Re: Morosov fork
I myself bought this fork at a market, and it certainly was not expensive, so no gain for a fake market. I do not see myself as a fool as I bought a piece that interested me. I liked it and bought it because I like it, not because of any hallmarks. It was only after did some research and saw the Mor...

Qrt.S
I know almost nothing about Russian silver, which is why I am using this forum to ask questions and learn in the process. I get pieces from markets and junk shops.
I would though like to know about the piece that you are referring to.

Re: Morosov fork
There is no way of answering that honestly. I have to pick some pieces up to figure how they feel. Some you have to buy before someone else recognizes the mark of a rare piece.

Re: Morosov fork
That cannot be answered simply. If in a shop I can pick it up and have a gut feel of it.

Re: Morosov fork
Thanks for all the responses, greatly appreciated. I do find though the buying of the unknown is the thrill of the buying. Have you bought well or not.
Often you do not know until you get home to check. Better to risk, than not I think

Thanks Theoderich.
I was wondering if the name is even written in Latin script as it is so hard to read.

Re: Morosov fork
i do take it all onboard, but find it hard to understand why you would bother to fake marks on a heavy piece of metal, silver or not, and then go to the the bother of putting a monogram on as well, and then if it is a fake , make 50 bucks profit. It would cost that to make it if not more

Morosov fork
I have a fork with Moroso, which I think would be Morosov, but for the next stamp going over it and obliterating remaining letters.
I was just wanting opinions on the authenticity of the piece.
Many thanks

Needing help with makers mark and date. Königsberg Ladle ?
I have what I think is a Königsberg ladle. It has the capital E date stamp and engraved AP d Mai 1851 or 1857. The makers mark is badly rubbed but I was wondering if anyone might be able to work it out from what is there. Thanks https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Xi...

Re: Japanese or Chinese marks on silver bowl,
Looking at the group of writing characters, they look like the ones used for Japan or Korea for pure silver going by the entries on the site

It would be interesting to know what the other symbol is

Re: Christening cup
The name on the cup is Anna=Lore. It could be a family ancestor, in which case it could come from North Eastern Germany , Silesia or East Prussia. If it was Silesia though, that would probably be dated 1900 or so, and possibly anywhere near Zabrze. If it was earlier than 1840 though, I would be unce...
