Re: Silver Mule with Monkey Object
Thanks so much. I guess I was thrown off by the fact that the acorn was hollow so I immediately thought that it must be a container of some type. A toothpick holder makes alot more sense. Any ideas on the marks and the age?

Silver Mule with Monkey Object
I recently bought the silver object shown in the pics below. It appears to be a seated mule with an acorn on its head and a monkey by its side. It is playing some sort of stringed instrument, maybe a lute. I'm not entirely sure what this object could be. My first thought was that it could be a besam...

Re: Japanese Silver Cups
I was able to a take better picture of the mark under magnification. The seller said that these were brought back to the US during the Korean war. A specific gravity test of one of the spoons showed that these are 0.99 silver, which is what I've read most Korean silver is. I hope this additional inf...

Japanese Silver Cups
I recently purchased a set of silver cups. They test as solid silver but I can't read the mark on the bottom. It looks like a Japanese makers mark but I'm not sure. Any help translating the mark would be greatly appreciated. https://i.imgur.com/CLtMare.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XCrGGpB.jpg https://i.i...

Soup Tureen (Possibly 12 Loth)
I recently purchased the soup tureen in the attached images. The mark on the bottom reads "BUCKMANN" and is accompanied by the number "12". I was not able to find any information online regarding a German silversmith with the surname Buckmann. I'd appreciate any info if possible ...

Re: Japanese or Chinese Silver Marks?
Thanks so much for all the information. Would you also have any info on the fineness of silver. Is it sterling or 750 or a different alloy? I don't think they are silver plated.

Japanese or Chinese Silver Marks?
I recently bought some small silver sauce bowls. There are two different marks on the bottom inside of the rim for each of them. Some have the first mark and some have the second mark. The design and shape is the same for all of them. Can anyone help me translate these marks or provide me with any a...
