Schulz & Fisher "FARALONE" Soup Ladle

I just acquired a magnificent soup ladle by Schulz & Fisher in their "FARALONE" pattern. It is 13 1/4" in length. Obviously I am not asking for identification but do have a question. I wondered about the name Faralone and its origin. So I looked up the word and found that there ar...

Mystery Hallmark

I am hoping some sharp eyed reader can identify this hallmark for me.
It is on a piece of hollowware. It says STERLING so I assume it is American.

Re: Black Starr & Frost Strange Hallmark

WOW! You are a fountain of information. Thank you so much. I woke up in the middle of the night after posting and it hit me that Black Starr & Frost were likely the vendors and some other company was the manufacturer. Jim P.S. Thanks also for the referral to that hallmark site which I had never ...

Black Starr & Frost Strange Hallmark

I have a gravy boat marked Black Starr & Frost. It says nothing about Gorham.

It has a hallmark that is different from any BS & T hallmarks that I have found in reference books.

Can anyone tell me more about the hallmark? Thank you!

Re: Another Hallmark Mystery to me

Hi Peter:

That sounds like a very good suggestion.
It is a very old spoon and I see absolutely no wear through of plate in the typical areas.
Thank you!

Another Hallmark Mystery to me

I don't know for fact but suspect this spoon is plate.
Given the crown in the mark I doubt if it American.
Does anyone recognize this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Please Help Indentify a Hallmark

Thank you so much!

I looked at that link and wasn't so sure but went to another web site that showed a clearer picture and you are spot on.

Happy to know the answer.

Unable to find this hallmark

This hallmark is on a spoon.
It sort of looks like silver from the coin silver era but feels more like plate.
I have searched high and low with no success to find this hallmark.
Can anyone help?

Re: Type of Fork?

I stand corrected. I researched a few more International patterns from around 1900 and
found that Avalon has an identical fork which is referred to as a sardine fork.

Type of Fork?

My questions is not one of identifying a hallmark as I know what it is. This is an International "Stratford" fork c.1902 It is a 6" fork and looks like a miniature salad serving fork. I have looked on several sites and it is not the same as what they call a sardine fork and is shorter...

Re: Gorham - Paris "Look Alike"

I did a bit more searching and found a number of additional photos of this spoon.
Apparently it is a large serving spoon with a gold wash bowl.
It is Gorham and shows a patent date of 1901 - the same as Paris.

I am trying to identify this pattern.

Kirk Repousse

I have 2 of the 9 1/2" egg shaped Kirk Repousse serving spoons. They are both stamped 508C as shown in the 1914 Kirk catalog. They are both marked S. Kirk & Son Co. so are from the 1896 - 1924 period. Yet the handles are slightly different. I am hoping someone can tell me the story behind t...

@silverly Funny you should mention that as this is almost an exact copy of the Kirk Repousse 9" Berry Spoon.
