Re: Paris silversmith ID
Thank you JayT for taking the time to answer my question, and furthermore for that interesting and surprising revelation about the maker. Much appreciated. I have attached 2 images of separate additional marks, the guarantee mark you refer to I presume is the Head , and the other seems to be an empt...

Thank you Theoderich, sorry I forgot to do so before. Yes, the likeness Abrahm Warnbergers Mark seems spot on.

Paris silversmith ID
Hi, I thought I would be able to nail this one on the full interpretation of the hallmarks, but no. A rooster striding to the right with the number 1 is Paris silver standard 950, I know, for which range of years, I am not sure. The maker I cannot identify. I have of course examined the website for ...

Re: A plate with the initials of Russian nobleman
Hi,
Thank you for that very complete information. I was surprised at St. Petersburg for origin, but I was looking for crossed anchors which is of course silver hallmark. Although I knew the pIate( or is it a small tray?) belonged to a count I didn´t know about decoration of the crown denoting rank.

A plate with the initials of Russian nobleman
Hi, I would like to call on someones expertise to reveal the info on the hallmark, especially any date info. Also whether this plate is solid or plate silver ( it is heavy for its size). To me it looks like brass revealing itself beneath plate. What may appear to be a letter C in the hallmark is a G...

Re: Silver plate ? And origin ?
Hi, Yes, the estate in question is MonRepos which Ludwig Heinrich von Nicolay acquired in 1794. Thank you for the positive ID of the coat of arms for von Nicolay, that has allayed any doubts I had. Paul v. N. , L. v N´s son was the last male of the Nicolay family, and the estate than passed to the f...

Silver plate ? And origin ?
Hello, In the absence of a silver fineness hallmark, I am assuming this is either silver plate or ´german´nickel silver. It is from a set of cutlery that I know came from the family seat of a German nobleman whose estate is near Vyborg, formerly in Finnish Carelia, but annexed by Russia in 1941. Thi...
