Re: Imperial Russia cross

Naturally, I wrote about relatives who have different initials. For example, "ФВ" and "СВ".

Re: Imperial Russia cross

Yes, of course, I meant "СВ". Sorry. I know of Fyodor Verkhovtsev's "ФВ" hallmarks up to 1867 (the year of his death), no more. I don't remember any cases of children of silversmiths inheriting their parents' hallmarks with initials. This is a photo of Sergey. https://sun9-76.use...

Re: Imperial Russia cross

There was a misunderstanding. Earlier I wrote: " Fyodor Verkhovtsev died in 1867. The cigarette case was made at the very beginning of the 20th century in Moscow. " It is clear that this means that this is not Verkhovtsev's silver workshop. I did not say that the cigarette case was made by...

Re: Imperial Russia cross

Fyodor Verkhovtsev died in 1867. The cigarette case was made at the very beginning of the 20th century in Moscow. Text: "July 5th The P A Thronins....Uncle Valya aunt Nadya 1909" Research on Fyodor Andreevich Verkhovtsev can be found on Wikipedia: "Верховцев, Федор Андреевич". PS...

Re: Imperial Russia cross

Hello! Unfortunately, I do not have a sample of the silversmith's stamp "ФВ" this year, but it may be Fyodor Verkhovtsev (Федор Верховцев). One of the best Silversmiths who made church utensils. The brand "ДС" has nothing to do with D.L. Smirnov, because this silversmith worked i...

Re: Uncommon mark

When Rykovsky worked at Ovchinnikov's factory, the silver items had Ovchinnikov's mark. Mentioning a person in address books even several years after his death is not uncommon.

Re: Uncommon mark

I think this is the silver workshop of Peter Rykovsky (Петр Рыковский). He previously worked as an enameler at the Ovchinnikov factory. I saw "ПР" hallmarks in 1889-95. All items have enamel. Rykovsky died in 1895.

Re: Russian enamel cup

Old books contain a lot of mistakes. I don't advise you to trust them too much. Alexander Smirnov was appointed director of the Moscow assay office in the late summer of 1878. He decided to resign in the winter of 1891 due to illness. Therefore, the laboratory assistant Skavronsky could not replace ...

Re: Russian enamel cup

Skavronsky replaced probirer Rudolf Würst in 1892.
At that time, Alexander Smirnov was no longer working at the Moscow assay office. Moreover, he had not been a probirer for over 10 years. He was the head of the Moscow assay office.

Re: Russian enamel cup

Hello!
Alexander Skavronsky ("АС") is a probirer, but this is not so important.
Most likely, it was made in the Moscow silver workshop of Ivan Saltykov (Иван Салтыков,"ИС").

Re: Moscow R.Petko ?

How funny it is when you write about something you don't know very well))) We can take, for example, 100 silversmiths of the 18th century, 100 masters of the 19th century and 100 masters of the 20th century. And we will discuss which of them could write, who was a peasant (Sazikov, Ovchinnikov, Losk...

Re: Moscow R.Petko ?

It is not difficult for me to imagine that a silversmith (often a peasant) in the early 19th century could have made a mistake in an inscription in a foreign language. He was not connected to the Internet and did not have his own translator. On a silver product in this theme, a long stamp is applied...

Re: Moscow R.Petko ?

"Я.PETRO"(V).
Yes, that's a mixed brand. I have no right to reproach the silversmith for his poor knowledge of a foreign language.)))

Re: Moscow R.Petko ?

Of course, this is the first decade of the 19th century. Of course, these are the initials of probirer Mikhail Karpinsky. Of course, Karpinsky worked in Moscow for many years, but not in every one of those years did he put his stamp. This is not 1802. It's more likely to be 1806, give or take a year...

Re: Moscow R.Petko ?

Hello!
I think there is an inscription "Я.PETRO". At the very beginning of the 20th century, some silversmiths in Moscow made their stamps not in Russian. Yakov Petrov (ЯКов ПЕтров) often used the brand "ЯК:ПE".

You're welcome!
in a few years, Yefim Stepanov will take the surname Yaroslavtsev (Ярославцев) and the brand "ЕЯ" will be visible. More often on spoons.
