Need help on Austrian maker
I recently purchased 2 Austrian spoons, and need some help with the marks. They both have the Diana head mark indicating 800 purity. However, I could not make out the city mark; I also could not find any information on the "PA" maker mark inside the cartouche. Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Do these marks look okay?
Thank you, Peter! In your opinion, should I just avoid making this purchase, unless the seller can provide testing results?

Do these marks look okay?
I came across an item with these standard 800 German marks. However, there is no maker's mark, which makes me a little uneasy. The seller said he has not tested it for silver content, and is relying on the marks. Do these marks look okay to you? Thank you in advance! https://i.ibb.co/qsDWDsK/s-l1600...

Re: Are these Irish marks?
Now that I am in possession of the item, thought I'd post a picture of the item, as well. As you can see, it's a good-sized sugar caster. I also took a closer look at the "S" in "CSH", it does look like it may have been overstamped, or it may be damage. The other "CSH" ...

Re: Help with mark on Austrian spoons
Thank you! Given that this silversmith was active from 1843 to 1886, and this Diana head was used from 1872 through 1922, that would date these spoons to circa 1880?

Help with mark on Austrian spoons
I recently acquired some Austrian spoons. The Diana head mark indicates that they are 800 silver from Vienna. However, I'm having trouble deciphering the other mark. Not sure if it's a maker's mark, or an export/import mark, or something entirely different. Any help would be appreciated. The images ...

Re: Are these Irish marks?
Thank you, silvermakersmarks! Exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I also mistook the "S" for a "G", LOL!

Are these Irish marks?
I'm stumped by these marks. Are they Irish? I can maybe make out the Dublin mark, but cannot be sure at all if the other one is a harp. Also, any thoughts on the maker "CGH"? An image of the marks is below. Thank you in advance!

Are these Georg Roth marks?
Hi, I need the forum's expert help in identifying/confirming these marks. My initial guess is that they are Georg Roth, but wanted to really confirm, as this is a pricey set. There are 4 items in this set in total, so I'm posting 4 (similar) marks, one mark for each item in the set. Hopefully this i...

Re: Dumb question on German spoon
Thank you, Bahner! This jogged my memory, and I found a thread that I posted a while ago asking about the same mark for a different item.
Here's the other thread. I'm getting old ...

Help with mark on another spoon
Here's the mark on the other spoon that I purchased. Not sure if I've seen this one before; couldn't find it in the list of German marks, either. So need some help from the forum on this one. It's shaped like an "A", or could be a rocket, I suppose. Thank you in advance! https://i.ibb.co/y...

Dumb question on German spoon
I've taken bit of a hiatus from my silver purchases, so my previous knowledge on this is a bit rusty. Just purchased 2 spoons yesterday. Here's the hallmark. I know I've seen this one before, and it's likely a relatively common one, but I cannot for the life of me remember or find which one it is. I...

Re: Help identifying Austrian candelabra marks
Thank you! I'm also wondering if it would be worth it to repair the missing holder. A silversmith I reached out to said it would cost $800-$1600 USD to do a custom mold. I would assume having a replacement holder sent here (United States) from Austria would also cost a lot of money, assuming they're...

Help identifying Austrian candelabra marks
I'm in need of help identifying marks on an Austrian candelabra that I recently purchased. I believe the left mark is the Republic of Austria mark used after 1921, with "W" denoting Vienna and "4" denoting 800 (as well as the shape of the cartouche and the "800" mark). ...

Who is this Swedish maker?
I just bought this set of Swedish sugar and creamer, and I need some help with the marks. It is stamped with the Swedish 3 crowns; however, the maker's mark resembles Gebrüder Deyhle from Schwäbish Gmünd. Also since 835 is not common in Scandinavia, where 830 is more common, I'm leaning towards this...

Re: Who's the best German silversmith in history?
German Renaissance silver is beyond the scope of an ordinary collector. Have you searched for e.g. Louis Kuppenheim enamelled pieces ? Regards Thank you for the suggestion. I looked him up, and his work looks very interesting/nice; still a little spendy, though. Just out of curiosity, is silver ena...

Is it okay to buy unmarked Hanau silver?
I'm considering buying an unmarked item that is very much in the Hanau style. The seller also swears by the item, as it came down through his family. However, without any marks, it could still be risky, in my humble opinion. Were most Hanau items marked? I read somewhere that some items that were ex...
