Brandy Warmer - Pittar/Pillar & Co

Just a quick question; Is this Brandy Warmer actually by Pittar & Co? We have it recorded as Pillar & Co but I can find no mention of Pillar & Co in relation to Colonial Indian Silversmithing. Also, what would a good date attribution be for the piece? We currently have c 1810. http://i94...

Re: Porringer

Pat,

Thanks so much for your help.

Any idea of where I could get the arms identified? I've been trying across the web for ages now.

Excuse the purple gloves!

Silver Spoon

Hi there, A bit of a mystery spoon here. French Export Marks pre 1973 (Mercury in an Hexagon) Argent 925 France and then a number 326809 I apologise for the quality of the photographs, between cameras at the moment and the one I have is terrible quality. Any information would be wonderful. http://i9...

Wow, thank you so very much for all your help.

Is there any indication of fineness on silver marks of that period? Also, are marks from Lisbon of that age on the web anywhere? All I can seem to find is modern Portuguese marks.

Thanks again for your help.

Silver Nips

Hey everyone, Just a quick question about these nips. I have taken a huge jump and assumed that the date letter is the crowned L in an oval. Again also an assumption that it's sheffield, as there are only the two marks shown on the nips; aside from a tool mark on the inside. Any help with these woul...

Thanks for the quick response.

Wouldn't the mark be in the center of the base if the object was turned on a lathe? There is a tiny little mark directly in the center of the base, but the star mark is a good inch away from the middle.

Russian Silver Topped Condiment Pot?

Hey everyone, Any help with this would be great. I think the town mark is Zhytomyr? Would the slit cut for the utensil be original? http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad296/zoner872009/th_DSCN0973.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad296/zoner872009/th_DSCN0974.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/al...

Creamer and Sugar Bowl

Hey everyone, Looking for a little help with this item. There is a matching sugar bowl (rather large). They both have the remains of a gold wash in the base, rather worn on the spout of the creamer I'm afriad. The only mark they have on them; aside from scratch marks, is this rather curious multipoi...

Hey Theoderich, Thanks for the quick reply; I think you're 100% right. Now there is only that horribly confusing makers mark to figure out *Sobs*. Not even sure how to read it, from the g (I'm presuming it's a g), the symbol after 100 or from the N (again I'm assuming it's a N) Thanks again, Edward

Cutlery Hallmark - Unknown

Hey everyone, I recently picked up this flatware set (6 of each item, plus 6 fruit knives, teaspoon and cake knife). I was wondering if anyone could help me with the mark? They billed it as German 800 Silver; but there is literally no indication of that on the pieces. I bought them because I liked t...

Help with Spoons!

Hello! Just a quick couple of questions about this pair of spoons. I worked out the age to be about 1719; the position of the hallmarks, the initials on the back of the spoon, the overall design, the half readable Britannia mark (95.8% Silver) and the top of the date letter D in a flat topped cartou...

Fish Knives

Hey, I'll try and take some photographs later on but I have six fish knives, the blades have the marks HB&H* (with a star where the asterisk, like a large asterisk) the Handle's have the marks HH in a square cartouche and then two Fleur De Lys in a square cartouche on the other side. Many thanks...
