The pin mechanics are that of an early pin. I do not think that is it as late as 1940s.

Also the style of the hatpin is such that later in the 1800's is much more fitting. It looks like turn of the century to me.
Lambchop are you the tiara collector I have seen on other forums? If so congrats on your new aquisition.

Hi there,
The general rule of thumb is, if the pin extends beyond the body its old. I say turn of the century (1900-1910).

I think the mark is German

But to tell you the truth I am stumped. The word on the back is "CESTLIEN" the L is different than the other letters, much more stylized and I think this is a German letter and could be a "B" I am sure one of you will know. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d84/TOWELL/morestuff00...

Your photo need to be closer. Most digital cameras can take a good close-up.

Are you sure there are no other marks? French marks on chains are meant to b...

Any French Experts Out There?

I bought this bracelet in Geneva, but I believe it is French (many miniscule marks). Anyone have any ideas? I cannot offer you any help as to the hallmarks, but it looks very Scandinavian which you likely already know - it is also very pretty.

Art Nouveau - fly, dragonfly or bug maker's mark?

I have these new (to me) earring and I cannot ID the hallmarks: a "p" or an "e" and a insect of some sort. After visiting here I think I may be lucky enough to find out. Any ideas? http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d84/TOWELL/ArtNouveau039.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...
