Here is a picture of the two hallmarks. The soup tureen is also shown.

Help Identifying Marks
I have a large Continental silver soup tureen. It is handcrafted but not the finest execution. It has only two marks, an M with a crown above and the lion rampant. The hallmarks are on the bottom of the tureen and also on the lid. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. https://imgur.com/jQGZFMT h...

Re: Haarlem silversmith maker's mark
Thank you for the fast response. I will get a picture of the box the next time I visit my friend. I didn't think of getting the entire box at the time I took the picture of the marks. Ken

Haarlem silversmith maker's mark
A friend has a Dutch silver box that appears to be from the 18th century given information I have found in the Forum, with the Haarlem town mark. The makers mark looks like a waterskin, wineskin or canteen. Is anyone familiar with this mark or maker? https://s20.postimg.org/aoay2me59/IMG_4011.jpg ht...

Unknown Maker 1693 Trefid Rat Tail Spoon
Hello, I know this is a longshot as I have searched extensively, but I am hoping someone may be able to help me with the maker's mark on a 1693 Trefid Spoon. The maker's mark, date mark, leopard's head, and lion passant (rubbed) are nicely struck, as shown. However, the maker's mark does not have an...

What are these London 1894 Pieces for?
I recently purchased these matching heavily chased silver pieces because of the wonderful chasing or repousse. They are 1.5 inches (4 cm) tall and 7.25 inches (18.5 cm ) long at the ends and just under 1.5 inches deep. They weigh about 4.5 ounces each, and both are marked on the bottom "Goldsmi...

Re: Need Help is it sterling or plate?
Hello. I came across your post this evening and thought I would provide a little more information which will be likely out of date from your post four years ago. I have seen two examples of this maker's mark over the past couple of years at antique shows. The first was a water pitcher and the second...

Re: Buccellati Engraving Sterling, Gold Turquoise Frame
You are absolutely correct and the frame indeed has the easel stand that is hinged on the back. It also has a little clasp on the top that folds up in the event one desires to hang the picture. Now that I have resolved the picture posting issue, I have added three that show the standing frame. Thank...

Re: General Question on Birmingham Hallmarks
Thank you again. You are correct in that the base and the bottom stem are one piece. The upper stem is attached using a threaded bolt that screws into the lower stem. It is also marked with the same two hallmarks. It is the nicest English Victorian piece I own, standing almost 17 inches tall, with t...

Re: General Question on Birmingham Hallmarks
Thank you, Aguest. I am posting a link to the centerpiece and the hallmarks. As shown, there is a full set of hallmarks on the main silver piece. The female figure and the cornucopia have only the W date mark and the Queen Victoria mark--in fact, even the wing nuts have the same Victoria and date ma...

Re: Buccellati Engraving Sterling, Gold Turquoise Frame
Thank you AMENA and AG2012 for the assistance to my post. Thanks to online translation services, I was able to understand the French information posted by AMENA regarding the Buccellati "bedside" frame. The size of my beautiful frame is slightly larger with the turquoise stones. It was int...

Buccellati Engraving Sterling, Gold Turquoise Frame
I have a wonderful Buccellati engraving of Madonna and Child. The engraving is in what I believe to be a sterling silver frame that measures 7 cm by 8.5 cm (approximately 3 inches by 3.5 inches). There are gold rosettes and turquoise stones. The engraving is on a natural material such as bone and is...

General Question on Birmingham Hallmarks
I own a sterling silver Frederick Elkington centerpiece that is appropriately hallmarked for Birmingham 1871 (FE maker mark, W date mark, Birmingham anchor city Mark, Lion silver mark, and Queen Victoria duty Mark). There are multiple pieces such as a cornucopia and kneeling female figure, and the n...

HD Coin Silver Hallmark
Hello. This is my first posting. I am trying to identify the following mark, and have exhausted several references. The mark follows the same pattern as Albert Coles, with three parts: A oval containing an eagle standing on a base (or holding a banner) which appears to have the initials NY; a lozeng...
