That's great news Pat! I can now say it's over 100 years old. I'm going to assume it's 1878-1894 because of the image you showed me started in 1894 and my mark is different. I feel very satisfied saving this piece from being buried forever. I found it 2 months ago and the spot is now a parking lot. ...

Howard Sterling date?

Hi, I found this pin next to a 100 year old home they were moving. http://sv1.letmehost.com/img.php?file=sv1/21/tiny_pin.JPG http://sv1.letmehost.com/img.php?file=sv1/21/hallmark_tiny_pin.JPG Before I go on I'd like to thank the administrator for the countless hours he must put in for free to keep t...

Hi, it was a little tricky for me at first too. Here's how I do it. Click on this link. Upload your picture. Then click on the picture you just uploaded. That will make it larger. Then cut and paste the address from that page to your post. Here's the tricky part. The address you've just pasted. Like...

Are you sure it's a 4 and not a 9? 980 would be a silver content. A picture might help. Here's a quote from this site on Mexican silver.
"The intaglio marks "980, 960, 940 & 925" are usually from the mid 1930's to the mid 1940's. "

Hi it's me again. I seem to be talking to myself. I have an observational question. I saw a piece of jewelry with the eagle 4 on it and the city Guadalajara. Now on this list on Mexican eagle marks I've been using as a reference it shows the "eagle 3" as a generic mark for Taxco. If you sc...

Hi Nola, I've been doing some investigating on the eagle 4 mark. I've come across a piece with an eagle 4 clear as day. Here's what it says on the item. Plata 925 MRM Guad Jal Mex Now with my limited knowelege of hallmarks and how they work. I believe the eagle # either indicated the city of assay o...

Hi, I'm posting a couple of new pictures. I think the line making the mark appear to be an A in the previous photos is an illusion. Just a crease in the silver. I know I'm grasping at straws here but I'm hoping to jog someones memory of something they saw. I ran across an Eagle 3 mark. Take a look a...

Hi Pat. Very similar indeed. I thank you for your insight. I'm very new to the world of hallmarks. So if I sound like a newbie. Well I am. I've noticed that only the marks from Norway and Denmark pictured on 925-1000 have the S behind 925. So here's my question for you or any of you pro's. Is 925S o...

Circle V K10 925S STILL UNKNOWN HELLLLLP

Hi, I found this ring metal detecting. It's a tiny thing. It's one of my favorite finds. The hallmark appears to be a circle with a V inside of it. It's gold and sterling. Thank you! http://sv1.letmehost.com/img.php?file=sv1/21/hallmark_tiny_ring.JPG http://sv1.letmehost.com/img.php?file=sv1/21/silv...

Hallmark help please. Hard to see. Ring.

Hi there, I found this ring metal detecting hence the dirty fingernail in the photo. =) I've searched the pictures on this site over and over with no luck. I don't know how ring hallmarks work. The design looks a little bit like the 1901 Chester date letter. But it also looks very much like a V. Als...
