Hi Tom
That was really helpful. You guided me to Austria - Hungary and on page 75 of Tardy it shows the mark - imported between 1901 & 1921. Underneath the german mark on the base is a No.2 would this figure give a guide to the designer of the piece?

martin meyer basket

Hello To All I have recently acquired a small solid silver basket, it is marked on the base with the moon, crown & 800 plus the martin mayer stamp. It was very dirty and whilst cleaning I noticed a stamp on the inside base. Under a loupe it shows a small capital B followed by a large letter A or...

Hi again Bahner
I have just had a closer look at that mark and although the outline is similar to my original guess, it looks like three acorns in the body of the mark - does this help at all?

Hi Bahner Thank you for your thoughts on this piece, but could you just explain why you doubt it to be the mark that I think it looks like. Do the other marks that I describe mean anything to anybody. These marks are very small & can only clearly be seen through a loupe, all of the Hanau marks o...

Thank you Margeaux
The smaller square mark is either AH over some sort of symbol or HV under a symbol depending on which way you look at it. The round mark has a letter inside it, it's a very strange looking m or n in some sort of gothic script.
Thanks again
