Its just got the makers name (Leonore Doskow) and "sterling" I think you may be right about the bent edge, but what would it serve?

Maybe a votive holder?

I found this beautiful piece by Leonore Doskow and I can't decide if its a votive stand or a placecard holder or something totally off the wall. Its about 3.5 inches high with a flat round disc as a base. Any thoughts?

thats what had me confused because I thought L&S only operated until 1910 or so. Was the hallmark in use after that?

Levi & Salaman Mirror, Date Letter Doesn't Match Cartouc

I came across this broken hand mirror with the Levi and Salaman Birmingham stamp. But everything I have learned on this wonderful site tells me the letter "A" in that cartouche should not be capitalized. Am I mistaken? http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r155/Williamgrey9/hurry021-1.jpg htt...

If you do not have the money for a very expensive camera lens I have found that using a triple lens magnifying glass held in front of the camera works very nicely. And on digital cameras I have noticed that the high zoom models are absolutely terrible for close up photography (kinda obvious when you...

Gigantic ladle with assortment of strange marks

I found this monster 2 months ago and have yet to identify a single one of the marks on it. The piece is 13.5 inches (34cm) and weighs almost 7 troy ounces. The only mark that looks familiar is the circled 3 which would make it a stieff date mark, however the piece is not marked 925 or sterling so i...

The bottom mark appears to be a French Guarantee mark. See this websites section on french silver to be sure, I could be wrong.

The only appleton I know of was nathaniel appleton of london and that would make it a much older piece, and i don't believe he used his full name as a hallmark. Are there any other marks, assay marks, city marks etc.?

This may sound silly

But I would swear that eagle over an "A" is the Anheuser-Busch Logo.

Barely legible mark...Maybe Gorham?

Could definitely use a hand figuring out the origin of this small bowl. I keep finding the letters, and the cartouche, but never together. And the center mark is completely rubbed away. For some reason I am thinking Gorham but I have been wrong before. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r155/William...

Help with pie server

I have discovered a wood handled pie server with this unknown mark on it. The city # stamped in the mexican eagle is almost illegible but appears to be a 23 or 33. Anybody recognise this winged "A" mark. Thanks a lot.

Bremer Silberwarenfabrik piece

I know the who and the where but what i do not know is the when. Does anybody have a clue when Bernhard Bros of BSF made this rather hefty piece. I am guessing pre WWII but I am truly not sure. Thanks in advance. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r155/Williamgrey9/bremer005.jpg http://i143.photobuc...

Sterling Salt Cellar I can't ID

What bothers me is I know I've seen the dragons head mark on the far right, just can't remember where...I must be getting old. Anybody got a clue about these?

Question about John Proctor Trott

Does anybody know the precise period during which JPT used the script hallmark of his initials. I am trying to narrow down the date on a set of 6 teaspoons.
