help with sterling mark

I have a shoe horn, very ornate handle marked "STERLING " with a British pound symbol in front of the word sterling. As soon as I can find a new place to host, I will try to get a photo up, but in the meantime, any ideas?
Thx,
TB

It has the first mark that is shown on the Silverplate marks page for Wilcox, the one with the 2 crossed hammers in the middle. It also says quadruple plate and has the numbers 2758 and 10 and some undecipherable writing u...

Thanks Pat. The only reason that I question whether it is plate or not is that it seems extremely heavy and the color is different than plate. It looks very much in color like a small R&B sterling cup that I have. It also sounds different when I tap on it. Is there anyway to tell whether it is p...

information on maker - wm rogers

Looking for info. Have a meat tray, probably plated, marked WM ROGERS. With a eagle/bird to the left of the name and a star to the right. Has number 4110 marked beneath.

Thanks,

silverplate meat tray hallmark

Very heavy silver plated copper with traditional tree shaped gravy well. The only mark found is that of a lion lying down with a shield above it containing the letter L, all inside a rounded square border. Will try to post a picture later.

Thanks,
TB

1847 rogers bros

Have a big heavy gravy boat. The marks on the bottom read:
HER MAJESTY
1847 ROGERS BROS.
0090041

then there are two rounded rectagles with the letter I and S in them.

Any info, is it silver or plate, time period?

Thanks,
TB

Yep the man definitely has a smaller beard. Do you know what the number 269 means?
Thanks for all your help!

Yep that looks like the mark, except the man with the beard is a little different. It does not say Sheffield anywhere, but it does have a number "269" below markings.
