Not sure on these marks, need a little help.

Hi, I'm not real sure on these marks, even thou in my research the only maker I can close to was Edward Lothian, with the EL and a crown above it. But when looking at the marks of Edward Lothian, the script is totally different. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Mark http://www.basei.co...

Help with hallmark on Footed serving tray

Hi all, I've gone nuts looking through Wyler, Wardle,Banister, & Rainwater Reference books to find these hallmarks. I got the best shot I could, they seem to fade out on one end. Special note these hallmarks are stamped on the front side of the tray. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciate...

I know I've seen this Mark Before, I think it's German?

I've seen this mark before, I looked through all my books on old Silver and came up empty. I think it the horse with a helmet on. Not sure it's sort of faded away. Any help on the ID of maker would be great. Thanks. Oh their candlesticks http://www.basei.com/1ESTATES/2-BOERMAN/DB71/PIC00025a.JPG htt...

Makes sense. especially for those social climbers that couldn't afford the solid silver. Thanks for the info on O.S.P. I wasn't aware of it's significance.

Thanks

Thanks Paul, I'm not sure what the initial are. I"ve heard 2 or three different opinions. But either case, I don't think that's going to lead me to the manufacture. Correct me if I'm wrong, but back in that era, they didn't require or record a lot of the silversmiths work. Some would do it if t...

My knowledge of Early Sheffield is a little week No Marks

I've researched what I could on Old Sheffield and think, based on the copper showing through, the seams and the tin interior, that it's really old Sheffield. But, I can be sure, and the hallmark is faded, but the initial are still readable. I get GJC on the initials. But can't find any reference to ...

Ok on Date and Origin, I'm having problem finding Maker

Hi, I'm pretty sure on the Date being 1753 and the origin being Dublin, all verified by a book "Old Silver" by Seymore Wyler. But if I date the Maker Hallmark, it would put in 1597-8. That's a big difference, plus I didn't think the where making this style flatware until 1660. Does this lo...

Having trouble identifing hallmark, and Stone.

Hi I inherted this snuff/pill box from one of my reletives, and it has the 925 on it as well as it looks like Taxco on one side and perhaps Santos on the other. I'm not sure about the Santos, but the markings in the Eagle shape is really got me. Also, I think the stone is Aventurine? It doesn't look...
