Re: Maker 'HA'

So, as I understand it, there is no point in reducing the image size after it has been stored at 'Photobucket' as any reduction made there is not recognised by the software on this forum. Thus, the image size must be determined by 'Paint', 'Photoshop' whatever before uploading to 'Photobucket'. You ...

Re: Maker 'HA'

As an aside, I wonder if the filter on attachment (photo) size is working correctly. I kept reducing the size, reduction after reduction after reduction. Next stop was microdot...

Re: Maker 'HA'

Thanks Trev. It is becoming increasingly evident that the frequency of 'senior moments' accelerates with age. Oh dear...

Maker 'HA'

Please can anyone identify the maker whose assay mark is 'HA' ? My Pocket Edition of Jackson's Hallmarks (Pickford 1991) has no listing. Perhaps someone has access to a copy of Culme's directory? Many thanks. Silverside http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p518/Brightag/081Compotepicture.jpg http://i...

Re: Dublin salver engraving

Thank you very much JBA. It's great to have one's ignorance dispelled!

For those who may be interested, a search with your favoured browser will bring up good examples.

Re: Dublin salver engraving

Thanks Trev for the extra information on the maker. Perhaps somebody who has knowledge of mid-19th century engraving may shed light on the matter.

Re: Dublin salver engraving

Thank you for your reply. It was also my first thought but the centre is high gauge and suffices to exclude that supposition and which prompted my posting.

Re: Help on 12 loth mark.

I have a spoon, bought in Nuremburg Germany a few years back that has the mark '12 Loeth'. The shopkeeper suggested that it might represent the quality of the silver.

Best wishes.

Thanks Trev. Do you have any explanation of the other marks?

Most grateful.

Scottish provincial forks

I have two forks which I believe might be of Dundee origin. Any assistance would be welcome. http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh494/MikeGallafent/Forks1.jpg (admin photo edit - images too large - link only - see Posting Requirements ) http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh494/MikeGallafent/Forks2...

Dublin salver engraving

I have a salver, Dublin 1859, maker William Law. heavily engraved on the top surface yet has a blurred copy of the image of the engraving on the underside. The salver is of heavy construction, 10 inch diameter, 19 oz troy. Question: how did this image appear? http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh49...
