Please help with marks on English measuring jug

This one pint jug is a measure of some kind. It is stamped 'PINT' and has a small oval mark consisting of a crown over 'VR', which is over the number 57. this can be seen in the picture, sorry it's not very close. It is also stamped 'R.E. Lane, Peckham' I would like to know what the mark means and w...

Thanks Bahner, that's very interesting. It's a good quality piece, they must have been good makers.

Apologies for not posting a picture of the whole item - here it is: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p199/selsdon/100_4111.jpg Thanks Trev, you are right. Using a loupe I can see an absolutely tiny, almost microscopic number on the left of the hexagon. I can't make it out it is so small, but it co...

Is this cigarette case Austrian?

I have had a look through the website but can't find this kind of mark. The closest I have found was an Austrian mark. This is a nice silver cigarette case with an engraved date in 1921 in a cartouche. It has simple blue enamel lining on the outside. The mark consists of a small (1.5mm) hexagonal st...

Yes, I agree up to a point. If I had discovered that it was a very old spoon, made of sterling silver, I would just 'respect' the spoon a bit more because of the craftsmanship and skill that went into it's manufacture. Berry Spoon - Sterling silver? advice appreciated

I am puzzled by this berry spoon. It has very unclear marks and it might not even be silver, although it looks and feels like silver to me. The first mark looks like KP but I can't find any such maker. The last one seems to read NS or N&S but I can't be sure. The middle one is completely unreada...

Can anyone help with this hallmark on silver chain purse?

I cannot identify the marks on this silver chain purse. They are also too small for my camera to photograph, so I have done a drawing of the marks - is this OK? http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p199/selsdon/hallmarks.jpg http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p199/selsdon/100_2562.jpg I assume the &qu...
