Hi Trev,
Thanks For your response.

I tried to embed the photos using the IMG tags, but this seems not to be the correct way.
What did I wrong?

Hallmarks on Russian Erotic Cigarette Case - unknown!

Hello, I have this nice cigarette case with a handpainted nude and would like to know more about the hallmarks on it. For me it is Russian silver of 84 Zolotnik. But I do not know what the letter 'A' left to the hallmarked head means. Also the maker mark (cyrilic) BA or BH is unknown to me. Is it po...

Re: Urn-shaped Nutmeg Grater, Silver, no hallmarks

Hello AG2012 for your information.

Does the shape of the urn maybe give some additional info about the period it was made?
Or even a hint to the counrty of origin or the maker?

I am still collecting info of the item.

(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

Best wishes, Rainer

Hello! Recently I accquired this urn-shpaed nutmeg grater. It has been offered to me as 'Biedermeier 19th century'. Re: Very unusual Patch-Work-Pattern Cigarette Case

Hi Bahner and thank's for your input!

The shape of the fields of the different material/metal correspond exactly 'mirrored' inside/outside.
Also, there is a hairline of solder between all the fields/elements.

Re: Friedrich the Great - German(?) Silver Box Unknown Hallm

Hello Trev!

Thank you very much for your fast reply.

I check the link you mentioned, but there is a lot of information I have to read.
Do you have an idea how old the item is? I still wonder why there is not the (for me)
typical German hallmark with the Crown&Half-Moon.

Best regards
Rainer

Re: Unknown Makers Hallmark on Austrian Snuff Box

Dear Silverport,
thank you very much for your posting with the name of the maker of the box.

Since I can not edit my posting itself, I changed the size of the first image so it now shows all markings on the box.

Thanks a lot again!

The hallmarks in both halfs of the box are identical and as follows: 'FN' in a triangle (*), 935 (silver fineness), bird head with '1' and 'W' (935 silver, Vienna) and 'STERLING'. (*) at the bottom of the tria...

Hello all together! A really interesting discussion is going on here, but what I do not understand Your box is from 1877... Viktor Savinkov was on duty 1855-1888...Maybe he took the wrong assaypunch - 1877 instead of 1887? if the master worked from 1855-1888 - why is 1877 "the wrong year"?...

Hello Qrt.S The middle (strange) mark is located on the inside of the lid, quite center. The other mark is located inside on the bottom, also just in the center of the bottom. The cartouche is rectangular and has little more 45-degrees corners. I am courious and hope you will find more details to sh...

Unknown Maker of Snuff/Tobacco Box

Hello! I got a russisn snuff/tobacco box of Niello/Tula silver. I identified the most of the hallmarks (I hope I am right, otherwise please correct me), but I can not find any hint on the silversmith. On 925-1000 I found just a silversmith with the initials the other way round. For me the box comes ...

Hello Qrt.S and thanks a lot for the information.

I trippel checked the case for any further marks, but there are none.

Is the lack of an assayers mark and/or the years mark a hint of 'less' quality products?

Thanks again,
Rainer
