What is this item used for?

Hello, I am new to this forum and new to silverware, but I should very much like to know what this little plate is used for of of what it is a part. It is marked 830, no maker's mark. It is 9,5 cm wide and the rim is 1,5 cm high. I would very much appreciate your suggestions, since it really puzzles...
