Hi, Here are the before and after pics. Obviously, there is a major improvement with cleaning and polishing. There is still some areas that need more :) I am at a place where I am not sure what to try next to see if I can get some more shine out of it. http://richsproshop.com/images/wine2.jpg http:/...

Further polishing has removed a lot more of the spots! I think I am up against a lacquer that was appiled to the silver long long ago. This has been a learning experience. Is there an easy way to get the rest of the lacquer off for a more uniform look? I have been using Wright's to clean and polish ...

Thanks Jim,

I can feel them as I drag my nail across them. It looks like pits in the metal instead of on it. I will try and polish them some more and see what happens. I am new to cleaning silver, but it just reminded me of being plated. Thank you for the response :)

Question about black spots on 800 & 835 silver

Hi, I read the article on polishing silver and it was great and informative. I tried it on some of my silver and they look great, but I have a couple of pieces that have some deep rough black spots on them. I am wondering if this is normal with the age of some pieces or are they not really 800 or 83...

Thank you :) I saw the Wolter, but could not see the rounded top on mine. I inherited a few pieces recently and it has been fun to try and find the history and makers. Thank you for your time and help.

Help with wine goblet cup marks, Hintze?

Hello, This is probably an easy one for you, but I am new to identifying marks. My first guess is that this is Otto Hintze, but the mark is not exactly the same. This small goblet is about 11cm tall. Thank you for your time and help. Thank you, Jay http://richsproshop.com/images/wine1.jpg http://ric...

Help with ID onyx silver bracelet 0925

Hi, I have searched the archives to find this mark, but have not had any luck. I assume it is Mexican and that the symbol in the middle is an eagle, but I am just not sure. Any help with the maker and dating would be appreciated. Thank you for your time! Jay http://richsproshop.com/images/jov1.jpg h...

Hello Bahner,
Thank you so much for your help and time. I thought it may be German because of the 800 mark. I was unable to find the other marks in my searches. My uncle was in Germany and Belgium during and after WWII and I assumed he picked up this item during that time.

Best wishes,
Jay

Help with marks on snuff box?

Hi,
I have searched through all of the marks and cannot find who made this. I think this may be a snuff box. It is hinged and is about 6" x 4".
Thank you for your time.
