Thanks guys, that is most helpful. Apart from being a "silver-surfer", at my age, silver rarely crosses my path, but I said I would help out a more aged friend in this matter. I felt confident that I would get some assistance on this Forum, so once again Thankyou.

Watch Fob/ Pendant

I guess this is from a watch chain. Presumably the engraving depicts the owners initials, but I can't decipher them. I think it is a Birmingham hallmark and a date of 1899. Am I correct? Also I don't understand the numbers at the top. Were they some form of registration by the maker "H.P."...

Watch Chain Bar

This silver watch chain bar was found in a Gloucestershire field. I'm guessing that it is 1897/98 but wonder if it is an import to Britain. I'd appreciate expert clarification, please.
