Re: Need help on mystery silver cigarette case - Crown mark
Looks like mine is 800 silver, 1937-1949. I see two little marks above the crown in the rounded triangle. Thanks for your help!

Need help on mystery silver cigarette case - Crown mark
20th Century silver cigarette case, tiny little marks. Looks like a crown, a "WS", and two other marks (including the silver content) that are too mushed to read. Any thoughts appreciated. https://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/IMG_3345_0001.jpeg https://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/IMG_33...

trouble with the 1776 and 1816 series marks - London
I have two spoons, from this series. 1) The first is by Eley & Fearn. It is either from 1779 of 1819. As far as I know, all marks can be applicable to both years. Can anyone help? https://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/eley-fearn.jpg 2) The second is by EITHER Thomas Bowen II or Thomas Bamford II...

antique silverplate wine coaster with O, C, or G gothic stamp
Does anyone know this maker? Presumably American, early 20th century.
The mark is a gothic letter (O, C, or G) inside a diamond.

So, is the whole knife coin silver – blade and handle? I am used to seeing weighted sterling handles with stainless blades.

sterling fish with mystery mark
Articlulated fish, 4" long. Marked MRT on fin; plus 925 and tiny touchmark on tail. Any help with the touchmark? It looks like: 1 - ????? - crescent I thought this might be Mexican. But probably not. Maybe Spanish? Egyptian? I am totally unsure. https://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/IMG_8610.JP...

c1880 Sterling Cake Slice - Anyone know maker and pattern?
I am hoping to find the maker and pattern name of this piece. It is simply marked STERLING. The style is similar to those produced in 1880s. I have been through the entire Hagan pattern book, and did not see it. Any help? http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/Screen_Shot_2015-09-10_at_12.31.16_PM.png...

Thank you.
I would not have expected it to be that old, but your suggestions are quite helpful.

European? Silver Figural Horse & Carriage - Unknown Marks
This is probably European, but I haven't had any luck with the marks. One is clearer, marked on a runner on the side. The other is very soft, marked underneath, mostly nondescript. It is sterling, or 800 silver? http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/IMG_2832_003.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderm...

silverplate figural "fence" knife rest - European hallmark?
I have a set of 12 old silverplate fence post knife rests. The mark is small and hard to see beneath the normal wear on them. It looks like a thistle or torch, or the Eiffel tower upside down. There is what looks like an "S" next to it, but it does not help me figure out which way is up or...

Re: Japanese? Silver Coasters
There are no additional marks, so I would assume large pieces in this set had the maker marks.
Thanks for the response.

Japanese? Silver Coasters
I have a pair of silver coasters of some sort. They measure 4" by 2.75" with a divot in the middle for a cup or something. They appear hand-hammered and I would guess they were brought back as a post-WWII souvenir by a soldier. Any info appreciated. http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/alderman/IMG...

Is this a Cartier hallmark?
I have a sterling baby cup, marked STERLING and a C-hallmark. This item was sold through Cartier -- identical items on eBay are also marked CARTIER. My question is, is the C-hallmark a Cartier hallmark, or is it simply the hallmark of the silversmith who made the cup (coincidentally also starting wi...

Mexican? Silver Weave Basket with tiny tiny "FV"? hallmark
I have a silver weave basket, 5.75" by 4.75", sits on small feet. I think it is Mexican since other "woven" items I see were largely made in Mexico. The hallmark is tiny and partial, impressed on a single wire. It looks like F over V but the bottom portion of the hallmark is not ...
