Hi I have a large George III solid silver toast rack dating 1811 maker Matthew Boulton it has a crest engraved on the foot, if anyone could help with this crest i would be grateful
Thanks Mandy
So far the University of Toronto Libraries British Amorial Bindings describes it as:
Creast a panache of five ostrich feathers unidentified. The closest other crest was for Borough, Richard, Sir, 1st Baronet (1756-1837). Three roundrels surmounted by five ostrich feathers.
It's a beginning, hopefully a more knowledgable member can take us further.
Hi Warren,
Thank you for your help, i have tried searching but got so confused, your information sounds intriguing i love finding out the past history of pieces, this toast rack is a stunner very Georgian and top quality
Best wishes
Mandy
