Storing sterling and silver plate

I think I read somewhere that sterling and silver plate should be handled separately, i.e., washed and dried, stored in separate cupboards, etc. If so, then I presume anti-tarnish flatware pouches should not contain both sterling and silver plate?

What an odd idea. Maybe it was thought up by someone who couldn't remember what they had and it was their way of keeping things separate. They can co-mingle amicably.
