I've notified eBay three times but of course they simply don't care and will not respond.
Up for sale is a coin silver AND sterling (yes both) fake Tiffany fiddle and thread silver ladle. I've seen this fake Tiffany stamp before. It's generally pretty obvious because it's almost never struck even or level, and in this case it appears off tilt with the sterling stamp which Tiffany would never allow even if this piece was possible which it isn't. What's even more incredible is the pseudo-coin silver marks have been heavily polished while the sterling stamp appears nearly brand new. The Tiffany stamp is half polished, half sharp. It appears the counterfeiter knew the disconnect would be a problem so he artificially wore down both the pseudomarks and half the Tiffany stamp.
The real crime here is that the ladle is an outstanding and heavy piece and would be welcome in my collection if it wasn't defaced and artificially worn. Does anyone know what company the original marks belong to? Does anyone know who would actually care enough to prevent a fraud from being sold?
