Silver (Sterling) Vanity Box

Post by Vale »

Hi all,

Today I bring this small vanity box (8 cm long), made in sterling silver. It is monogrammed. Mark shows an "A" inside a "V" - or something. It also comes with a mirror and three compartments, to hold who knows what. Here the photos go. I appreciate your comments. Thank you!

Hi Vale,

Possibly a partially struck mark of Clarence A. Vanderbilt, see: http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_V.html

They were known makers of vanity cases.

Please remember to keep your images to within the 7" guidelines.

Thank you Trev! ... I was searching the web to find some extra info regarding date but I didn't find anything useful. I am fine with Vanderbilt's working years. Could you tell me? I assume he is American, right?

Sorry, I will take care of the 7'' next time.

Hi Vale,

According to Rainwater's they were New York based and working from c.1909 until c.1935.
