Dutch spoon

Post by leo22 »

Hi,

I have found a spoon, I think very old. But maybe you know something more?

Hi,

From left to right: V crowned V is a later tax mark used 1814-1893, for more information see:
http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32028

Date letter M and this particular M is for Rotterdam the year 1722.
The city guild mark of Rotterdam is based on the coat of arms: a (crowned (docked) shield, top quartered with two lions on each side and at the bottom, a vertical bar, the Lion rampant in a crowned shield or the province of Holland standard mark for silver of 934/1000 fineness. However I fail to see a maker’s mark? Or perhaps over-struck when the crowned V has been applied.
Please show us an image of the complete spoon and all marks.

Oel.
