RE: Mark on Brooch
Thanks Tom! I will see if anyone I know has that book and can check for me.
It looks like the end pieces are opals or something similar to opals. Maybe it has all naturals stones in it.

RE: PN Sterling
Well, I had someone check the book and she could not find an artist with the initials PN. I also wanted to tell you that the dark colored stones are actually green which I wouldn't have known because it does not look green when you look at it.
Only through a loupe. Any ideas as to the types of stones that are in this piece? It looks like the ends are opals, but I don't know the others. Thanks!

Gems
There are lots of gems that resemble one another and you almost have to have the molecular weight to be sure, but the dark green stones might be Aventurine, the red could be Hessonite or cinnamon stone, the center stone looks like a turquose.

RE: Who is PN Sterling?
I am resubmitting pictures so that everyone can see the mark in question and the front of the brooch.
Please help with the "PN" name if you can.
Happy Holidays!
Here is the front of the brooch. The two end stones look like opals (not Mexican opals or faux opals but real opals), the next two stones (on either side) look black even in person until you shine the light and look with a loupe, then you see it is green, then the other two are red with one or two black specks and then the middle stone. Just to let you know, I have never seen a dark green stone like this before, a little bit translucent looking if you know what I mean:)
