Hi
We are searching in Switzerland, which makes sense from the style of the spoon and the marks. However, it is difficult. Vevey rules out, the city marks from there have a crown above the W which is integrated in the stamp. We still have Winterhur with a W as city mark, and as mentioned Wil. However, the IG, wich is probably the makers mark does not fit. I wonder what the mark is above the W. Is this the City mark? Can we have a better picture of it? Probably it is partially worn. Can you study the mark and check with the discoloration how the complete mark looked? Maybe make a sketch?
I hope this mark gives a clue. And we may need to serach outside Switzerland.
My dear, what happened to this poor spoon? Rough file marks and all these dents. Was it never finished by the silbersmith?
I agree, the thing above the W seem to be a crown. So Vevey is in the game again. However, all Vevey marks I have references have the crown and the W integrated in one stamp.
Regards
Jörg
