Need help identifying this mark and maker, I think is French

Post by cirrus »

This is a small lidded jar, the lid is painted silver plate and the mark is on the side of the lid. There is a maker's mark, W & A, then a profile of a lady's head inside a hexagon shape. I couldn't find anything for sure like these marks on any of the references. Any clues?

Hello, this is probably Austrian before 1923. There should be a number or a number plus a letter beside the ladie's head. I cannot see it on my screen. The rectangle contains the maker's mark. What is the first letter ? Best wishes, Bahner

Thank you Bahner for your help with the origin. There is no letter or number next to the lady's head. Just the head inside a hexagonal lozenge shape. The maker's mark is: [W & A]. Regards, Cirrus

Hello, maker is most likely Winter & Adler from Vienna, active ca. 1895 - ca. 1913. Best wishes, Bahner
