Georg Jensen sterling bracelet - unknown model number
Over the years we have acquired a number of Georg Jensen jewellery pieces, all with the model number stamped clearly on the piece. We recently bought a bracelet with the model number 101. This number does not correspond to a bracelet at all, but to a brooch. I can't find the bracelet design anywhere? Did Jensen make mistakes? Thanks for any help!
Re: Georg Jensen sterling bracelet - unknown model number
Janet Drucker in the second edition of her book Georg Jensen : A Tradition of Splendid Silver, states:
"There is a general order to the numbering system in Jensen jewelry, although there are many exceptions. The pieces are numbered chronologically, yet occasionally a number was skipped, and some numbers reassigned at a later date. It is not clear why some necklaces have matching bracelets with different numbers, and some necklaces have the identical number as the matching bracelet."
Drucker then goes on to give a partial list of matching necklaces and bracelets. She states that necklace #102 matches bracelet #101 (p.171). There was also a brooch #101, listed in a 1940's catalogue (p. 170).
Therefore it would seem that Jensen's numbering for brooches, necklaces and bracelets was not mutually exclusive, so there could be items of different types with the same number.
Hope this helps.

Re: Georg Jensen sterling bracelet - unknown model number
Thank you so much for the helpful information regarding the Jensen bracelet. This bracelet is unusual in that, despite extensive searching on the internet, the only example of this design was in 18k gold and was apparently designed circa 1945.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
