I just bought an antique three-legged salver. It has a hallmark that to me looks like a walking saint, but that may be only my imagination. Any help out there?
Thank you!
Jack

Re: Need help w/ hand hammered antique salver identification
A shot in the dark:
Doesn't it look more like an angel? That is usually a symbol for pewter especially if it is the only mark, but ...?
Anyway, just guessing...

Maybe an angel or an alien, but definitely silver. Acid and thermal gun tested.

Hi Jack,
Just a shot in the dark, but Glarus in Switzerland may be worth researching:

an other option is Vilnius
Re: Need help w/ hand hammered antique salver identification
I have picture reference of 26 different marks from Glarus. Non of them looks similar to yours and all of them are joined by a makers mark, usually his Initials.
I have problems with the structure on the bottom right side of the mark. Looks like a tree or maybe some makers Initials. I do not see this on Glarus marks.
I would rule out Glarus.
Regards
Jörg

By the way, you did not mention it, but I assume this is the only mark on the object?
What is this structure on the underside rim, on your Picture at 11hour Position?
